Reverse Bill-4 Rally Event

Reverse Bill-4 Rally Event.

April 19th at 1pm until 4pm, At Surrey Central. I will be holding a rally to protest against the passage of Bill-4. For those of you who don't know what Bill-4 is, it's a Bill that basically allows for pipeline drilling in residential parks. Prime Minister Stephen Harper passed this Bill-4 without consulting anyone, or even having a vote. We the people should have had a say in whether we wanted this Bill-4 to pass... Now they can drill pipelines in our backyards and dump crude oil, and they think that this is ok? I don't feel this is how a government should conduct it's business... They have an obligation to their people to allow them to know when something directly affects their lives, and destroys the ecosystem which we live off of. The residential parks were once protected under a act, but this Bill-4 now makes that protection act nullified...

Obviously this is a huge concern, and this should be concerning everyone. Would you like it if someone just suddenly came to your door and said "ma'am we are going to drill a pipeline into your backyard, and dump oil into your water" Without even making it a question? I certainly would be on the phone to the police, or I'd physically remove them from my property. It comes down to this, what will you do to save your future generations from the destruction this administration is causing? Does your children's future mean anything to you? If it does than you should be on the streets with us April 19th and shouting out loud for Christy Clark, and Stephen Harper to hear you! Don't back down, don't give in, and certainly don't let them tell you what you need to accept, because you know what? They don't have any power and authority over us, you know why? Because WE gave them that power and authority, which means we can take it away! They've abused it, and misused it, and misrepresented their people, and caused so much oppression that we should all be taking the streets and screaming for them to bow down and beg us for their mercy, because we are the ones whose coming to knock on their door and say "Hey, you abused us for too long, now it's time to give back the power to the people, or we will take it back!"

This is the outline, we will meet at 1pm, I will probably be still organizing so we won't be speaking until 1:15pm, while we are getting organized, there will be a petition to sign to Reverse Bill-4. After we talk, and sing, and say a prayer, we will than get everyone together to go for a march. We will march through the mall, and do it slow, so we shut down, the mall for a short period of time, but long enough to make a difference. We will go down the escelator, out the front doors, and march through the parking lot heading towards King George. Then we will go towards a road that I'm not mentioning on here, everyone will know on the 19th, because I don't want the police to direct traffic somewhere else, we need to reach the masses.

After we march for an hour, we will head back to the mall, which we will shut it down as we go back to the skytrain again. We will then sing, and talk until the petition is signed by everyone that's going to sign it, and at 4pm we will say thanks, and our goodbyes.

My Day Of Protesting #2

April 2,2014 at 11:53pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

Today I worked very hard, I made a whole bunch of new signs. I got ready, and I timed it perfectly so that we could head home right away after posting up these signs. I went, we posted, we had lots of fun. Something magical happened to me as I was posting those signs, I realized it was time to do something that I should of done a long time ago. I made an event for Surrey, for April 19, 2014 at 1pm-4pm.

The event is going to happen at Surrey Central Skytrain Station. We will sing, and scream, then I wanted to shut down King George blvd for an hour, and then after, we will return to Surrey Central, and sign a petiton, and then we will sing and pray, and give thanks to everyone for showing up and participating :). I am so excited for this event.

If you wish to contact me about anything, you can email me at: [email protected], you can message me on Facebook at, you can tweet me @TheGAPP3, or you can text me at 604-763-3606 :)

My Day Of Protesting

April 1, 2014 at 11:53pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

Today began like any other day, I woke up, had a coffee, got my son out of bed, said goodmorning to my husband. I had my morning coffee and as I was sipping it my husband asked me if I'd like to leave for a bit while he cleaned the whole house for me. I thought that was an interesting idea, I didn't know where I'd go, what I'd do, I just knew that the prospect of going out sounded good. It was a nice sunny hot day, I had a few ideas in mind, but soon my thoughts would change...

I was on facebook looking for things to share on my page, when I saw I had invitations to events. I clicked on events, and then invites. I saw that there was a invite to an event tomorrow at 3pm. A mass twitter flood for Christy Clark our premeir for British Columbia. I commented saying that I understood how this may help, but it's small compared to what we can actually do to bring attention to the newly passed Bill-4. I felt like it wasn't enough just flooding her twitter and email. I felt something more direct and attention grabbing should happen.

That's when it happened... My eyes opened and I saw a beautiful opportunity. I made a sign to post on my sons back pack. I then put paper into my back pack and left with him... I began small, I posted a sign on the bus stop I was at waiting to go to surrey central. I got on the bus after posting it, and as we were going towards surrey central, there was a huge accident, a man was hit, he was laying on the road...

I felt bad for this man, I wanted to give him a name, and show the world his story, so I started filming... It's only natural in our day and age that when you see something you film it, and then post it later. I didn't want to just post it, I wanted to tell this mans story... I don't know if he lived or not, so if he isn't alive he deserves his story being told. He deserves to have his name known, and to know he mattered. He wasn't just no body who got hit, and killed... He was a man, he was a father, a brother, a uncle, a son. He deserves that much, he probably suffered like all of us with this corrupt world.

These two men on the bus were so rude to me for it, they don't know me, they don't know how big of a heart I have, they don't know that I feel like this mans life was worth something... He was here, he had a life, he had family and friends... Shouldn't people know that? To the police and EMT's on the scene he was just another victim... Not to me, he was a human man, and he had a name. I don't know his name, but I have given him a voice. Those men harassing me for what I was doing really got to me. Why? Because I don't understand why they felt they needed to harass me for something they shouldn't of even got involved in... They were so concerned with minding my own business, but they didn't mind theirs... So then I felt they were being hypocrites...

After that and I got to Surrey Central, my whole vibe was thrown off so I decided to wait for the bus to go home... As I was on the bus I felt like doing more signs when I got off, so that's what I did, I posted another sign at the bus stop I got off at, and I continued home. I put one up in my lobby, and in the elevator on my way up to my floor... So now I'm in this vibe mood that everyday until I hear something more than blasting a bunch of tweets, but that we are going to take serious action against this, then I will post signs everywhere I can....

This is a small step in the big picture, but I know it will make a ripple. I need someone to pay attention and if theres signs everywhere and it's on facebook, twitter, my website, other peoples facebooks, and twitter than its getting out there, and that is more than sitting at home venting online to do something. I am doing something, and that is what I want! I want to do something, therefore I am! Be the change you want to see, well I'm living the change I want to see!

Thank you for reading this article/blog, remember WE are the GAPP between them and power!

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Of Canada

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women of Canada.

March 31, 2014 at 10:05pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

There is a lot to be said about the issues facing Indigenous Women. They have had the hardest road since the colonization of the Europians sailing up on shore. But that isn't the only issue they have faced, over the past decade and a little longer, over 825 women have gone missing and found murdered. A lot of these crimes have gone unsolved, and one more recently has got attention internationally, a women named Loretta Saunders.

The parents of a murdered Halifax university student have broken their silence and are now expressing anger at Halifax police.

Loretta Saunders’ parents say they can forgive the suspects charged in her death, but they can’t forgive the police who they feel deliberately misled them.

Mariam and Clayton Saunders say they are frustrated with the way the case was handled from day one and feel the justice system has failed their daughter.

“The law needs to change. From my own experience, her body could have been found probably the first day of the investigation, in the house,” says Mariam Saunders.

“As soon as they went into the apartment, they must have known she was gone. It don’t take a genius for that, where there had been struggles, especially when there was blood around the place,” says Clayton Saunders.

Loretta Saunders' body was found on a snow-covered median off the Trans-Canada Highway near Salisbury, N.B. on Feb. 26.

The 26-year-old Inuk woman from Labrador, who was studying at Saint Mary's University, had disappeared from Halifax on Feb. 13.

Police allege Saunders, who was three months pregnant, was killed the day she was last seen at a Halifax apartment she once shared with the two people accused in her death.

“They said they seen her coming out alive…when she went to get her rent they seen her coming out, the cops told me that, they seen her coming out alive, but the reality was that wasn’t true,” says Mariam Saunders.

She and her husband are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their daughter but say they have too many unanswered questions. They say they are raw, numb and drained from sleepless nights

“I don’t sleep in the night, wondering if she was cut up, wondering if she was hurting, how long she was hurting,” says Mariam Saunders.

But Halifax police are defending their handling of the case. They say a liaison officer kept the family in the loop but some aspects of the file couldn’t be divulged, even to family members.

As for not launching a search once Saunders’ car was discovered near Windsor, Ont. on Feb. 18, police say that just wasn’t possible.

“Investigators with the integrated HRP/RCMP major crime unit, until the day Miss Saunders’ body was discovered, had no information as to where she was located,” says Const. Pierre Bourdages of the Halifax Regional Police.

“It’s a vast distance between Halifax and Windsor and we had no area to concentrate on.”

Bourdages says Saunders’ family hasn’t raised any concerns with police but says there is someone available to speak with them and is encouraging them to get in touch.

While they are furious with police and the justice system, Saunders’ parents say they are not angry at Victoria Henneberry and Blake Leggette, the couple charged with first-degree murder in Loretta’s death.

“I don’t hate those people. Maybe it’s because I’m not gone to that stage. I hope I don’t,” says Mariam Saunders.

“I don’t know why, deep down in my heart I don’t. I don’t even hate God.”

Leggette, 25, and Henneberry, 28, appeared at Halifax provincial court Thursday morning but the case was adjourned until April 9.

Everyone across Canada has been touched by this murder. It says a lot about what kind of people can kill a 3 month pregnant woman in cold blood... How could they live with themselves after killing a innocent child that didn't even have the chance to live? I am a mother of a little boy, and I would really want my government to take action on this issue if it were me and my son who were murdered. The Harper government has shown little to no concern with this growing crisis on Indigenous women's lives. He went as far as rejecting all requests for a public inquiry, and I've noticed that YouTube, and Facebook is being censored from even the mere mention of the issue... So than you need to ask yourself this question, what is the government trying to cover up? What are they trying to hide?

Also take this into note, Loretta was studying the missing and murdered women in Canada when she conveniently disappeared, and then turned up dead. I am aware that they know it was the room-mates that did it, but who put them up to it? Were they acting alone? Were they bought into doing it? I've seen and heard some pretty crazy stories of how far the government will go to get, and do what they want. Anyone heard of Obama's kill list? What if Harper has one, and it has to do with his dirty little secrets? Which is why we are living in poverty, and have pipelines poisoning our communities, why we can't get any funding for anything that our communities need.

There's more, I attended a candle light vigil for these women, it was based upon honoring Loretta's work into the missing and murdered women, but we were honoring all missing and murdered women. We signed a bus stop on Commercial Dr, in Vancouver Canada, and not even 12 hours later it was all cleaned off... I wonder why they had to clean off those women's names in such a hurry?

There is a lot going on that isn't being addressed, there is a lot being said, but no action to show for these talks. We are missing 825 women, and counting, no one seems to be doing anything... Why? Is this a Canada we wanted? Where women can vanish in the hundreds, and the government won't spend the time to find out why? If this were white women, I'm sure that there would be people in the streets screaming every day until Mr. Harper gave the people what they wanted. Why can't he do it for these 825 women? Do they not deserve to go home to their families? Do their families not deserve closure? Do their families not deserve to burry their children? This is a sadness...

Kill Keystone: the Carbon Mega-Bomb

March 7, 2014 at 8:49pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

Right now, the US government is mulling over thedefining climate decision of Obama's presidency -- whether to approvea monstrous pipeline that will transport up to 830,000 barrels a day of theworld's dirtiest oil from Canada across the US.

If approved, the Keystone XL pipeline will help pump billions of dollars intothe pockets of a few companies... but alsomillions of tons of carbon intothe atmosphere. It's been called "a fuse to the biggest carbon bombon the planet". Bold public action has delayed it once, and a courtruling last week has dealt a serious blow to the project. Now, if we actfast and in massive numbers, we can help kill it for good.

The US Secretary of State, responsible for the US'srelationship with the world, has opened a finalround of comments from the public. Let's flood the consultation with amillion signatures and messages from every country calling on Kerry to killKeystone and save the planet. We only have days until it closes - sign now!

Go sing this petition as soon as you read this! This isvery important we need to stop this from happening, Canada is already sufferingthe united states shouldn’t suffer too.

Elections watchdog says Ted Opitz exceeded campaign limit in 2008

March 6, 2014 at 10:21pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

With the government passing bills to take away our privacy, and retracting treaty rights from indigenous people, how can we honestlybelieve that the elections were uncorrupted? Really Canada you believed that itwas a fair run? I thought that we were smarter than that, even I know thatelections are rigged. We could vote for the janitor of the senate committee andend up with Harper... It was evident as it was when Bush won the presidencydown in the states. Can they get away with it? They did! So why are we eventalking about this? Well check out this article and make your own decision.

OTTAWA — Conservative MP Ted Opitz exceeded his personal contribution limitto his 2008 nomination race for the riding of Mississauga South by nearly$7,000, Canada’s election commissioner has found.

In a compliance agreement posted in the most recent Canada Gazette, commissioner Yves Cote wrote that the rookie MP, elected in 2011 in the ridingof Etobicoke Centre, contributed $9,000 to his 2008 nomination campaign, farsurpassing the limit of $2,100.

“The contracting party has acknowledged that his contribution of $9,000 tothe 2008 Opitz nomination campaign resulted in a contribution of $6,900 inexcess of the allowable contribution limit,” Cote wrote.

Optiz’s actions could constitute an offence under a section of the CanadaElections Act, Cote continued.

“The contracting party (Opitz) has acknowledged and accepted responsibilityfor this act.”

Additionally, Opitz “acknowledges that information relating to theseexpenses was not, at the relevant time, in the possession of or under controlof his financial agent (Aly Salim) Hirji,” Cote wrote.

Nor was a return for election expenses submitted to the chief electoralofficer, as is required for campaigns with contributions or expenses exceeding$1,000.

A separate compliance agreement for Hirji notes that as financial agent forthe campaign, Hirji was required to either return the $6,900 to Opitz or to thechief electoral officer within 30 days of discovering he’d overstepped hiscontribution limits.

Both Hirji and Opitz have cooperated with the election commissioner and haveagreed to a number of conditions to rectify the situation, including submittinga return for the campaign and remitting as much of the overage as possible tothe chief electoral officer.

“Mr. Opitz has agreed to use his very best efforts to enable (Hirji) toremit to the receiver general the greatest possible portion of the amount of$6,900, being the portion of Mr. Opitz’s contributions that exceeded thecontribution limits in the Act,” Cote wrote.

Additionally, Opitz must provide a list of expenses to Hirji and provide arecord of their communication on financial matters.

Opitz did not return requests for comment Sunday. Thebackbencher has shared some of the political spotlight in recent weeks, formulating part of the government’s response to the political protests andupheaval in the Ukraine. Opitz represents a sizeable Ukrainian population inhis riding of Etobicoke Centre.

I don’t know if they’re really expecting Opitz to providethe documents they demand, but I do know that he probably won’t. Why wouldsomeone load the gun for the person about to shoot them? I know that’s astrange analogy but it works doesn’t it? So I will leave this with you, I hopeyou are seeing the corruption, and are waking up to this hypocrisy.

Documents expose Harper's obsession with control

Documents expose Harper'sobsession with control

The government of Stephen Harper is taking extremesteps to control all federal events, a process that has blurred thetime-honoured separation of non-partisan public servants and that officials andpublic-policy analysts say is undermining democracy

March 7, 2014 at 8:06pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

OTTAWA—An MP’s Sunday afternoon visit to a seniors’ home. The federalpurchase of powerful new military aircraft. A journalism student’s innocuousquery about Africa.

One thing connects them all — the Conservative government scripted eachevent using a potent but little-known communication tool called the MessageEvent Proposal.

The Canadian Press has obtained almost 1,000 pages of MEPs from severalgovernment departments, including the Privy Council Office, under the Accessto Information Act. The PCO, the bureaucratic nerve centre of Ottawa, has beenconscripted by an increasingly powerful Prime Minister’s Office to vet requestsfor public events across the federal government.

The MEPs have blurred the time-honoured separation of non-partisan publicservants and political staffers and sidelined seasoned governmentcommunicators, sapping morale across the civil service.

They have become the political tool for literally putting words in themouths of cabinet ministers, federal bureaucrats, low-profile MPs on thebarbecue circuit, and seasoned diplomats abroad.

“Your authorization is sought for President Greenhill to respond toquestions ... during the press conference,” reads one MEP prepared by theCanadian International Development Agency asking the PCO to allow itsthen-president, Robert Greenhill, to speak at a high-level United Nationspanel.

The MEP is the crucial communication instrument for a minority governmentthat values staying on message above all else — a transformation that federalofficials and public-policy analysts say is undermining democracy.

While all governments try to control the message, the ambitious sweep ofMEPs is unprecedented in federal politics. Critics say it contradicts the corecampaign promise that brought Prime Minister Stephen Harper to power —introducing a new era of transparency and accountability in government.

“We discussed every single issue and micromanaged every news release —everything,” said one former Harper-era PCO official.

“Pretty much any event, or any rollout of an announcement, would have an MEPthat would lay out the strategy.”

The identities of senior sources who have worked at PCO and otherdepartments are not being revealed because they fear retribution from theirpolitical masters.

The Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment on this story.

Political scientist Jonathan Rose of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.,says the MEP is worrisome because it erases the traditional line separatingpublic servants and politicians.

“You’ve got bureaucrats who are doing the government’s partisan work andalso political staffers who are doing bureaucrats’ work. So there’s this hugeblurring of lines between the two.”

A review of hundreds of MEPs spanning several years reveals the vast sweepof control exerted by the Harper government. They have been used to orchestratealmost everything from the rollout of billion-dollar purchases of militaryaircraft to the donation of a few thousand dollars to a community group.

An MEP template typically includes the following subtitles: Event, Eventtype, Desired headline, Key messages, Media lines, Strategic objectives,Desired soundbite, Ideal speaking backdrop, Ideal event photograph,Tone, Attire, Rollout materials, Background, and Strategic considerations.

Senior government sources have detailed how these documents are shuffledback and forth between public servants and their political masters beforereaching the PMO.

Public servants in various federal departments begin the time-consuming processby completing the template to request an event or other communication. The MEPthen crosses into the political realm, where it’s vetted by a minister’soffice.

Then, it once again crosses lines, back to the public service, where it’sreviewed by the PCO. Harper’s office — the ultimate political authority — hasthe finalsay.

In some cases, MEPs for routine events — spending announcements in particular— have often been quickly approved. But in most cases, Harper’s office is whereMEPs go to die with no explanation, sources say.

Myriam Massabki, the official PCO spokeswoman, said federal policy dictates“a requirement to plan and co-ordinate communications and this (the MEP) is atool for that.”

She played down the notion that public servants are doing the bidding oftheir political masters.

“It’s in the role of PCO to consult PMO. Not only in communication, but inpolicy.”

The MEPs themselves show that events that do occur are heavily scripted.

The July 15, 2007, announcement of $12,360 for a retirement centre inEdmonton was approved by PCO for its “friendly and celebratory” tone that wouldhelp MP Laurie Hawn “highlight Canada’s New Government’s contribution tohelping seniors,” says the event’s MEP.

An August 2008 MEP envisioned Defence Minister Peter MacKay and then PublicWorks Minister Christian Paradis standing on the back ramp of a Chinookhelicopter as the “ideal event photograph” for the rollout of new militarycopters and drones — a “proactive opportunity” to highlight the federalgovernment’s commitment to provide life-saving equipment to the CanadianForces.

A 2008 request from an Ottawa journalism student for an interview with CIDA onits Canada Fund for Africa generated a detailed two-page MEP — even thoughthere was only “remote potential for sale of the article to a Canadian magazineor weekend feature section of a national daily.”

The Conservative government’s message control is “putting the shackles oneveryone,” said John Gordon, national president of the Public Service Allianceof Canada.

“I’ve been around for a long time,” said Gordon, who joined the publicservice in 1974. “Governments come and go, and this type of thing takes place. But I’ve never seen it as closed as this.”

Rose sees the MEP process as a “pre-emptive strike” by the Prime Minister’sOffice on all federal communications.

“In other words, the political wing of government needs to have control overwhat is said prior to it being said. I think that’s not good for democracy.”

The stringent handling of issues and messaging has resulted in lessreflective policy-making that’s not as sensitive to different voices and what’sactually going on in society, said David Brown, a senior associate at theOttawa-based Public Policy Forum.

“In the end, you risk fracturing society rather than uniting it. In thatsense, I would say these are not healthy developments,” said Brown, who workedin several federal departments including the Privy Council Office.

If a department wants to make a public announcement, respond to a question, announce a spending initiative or hold virtually any public event, then an MEPis prepared to make the case to PCO as to why the event should be allowed totake place.

“Anybody that could still think for themselves realized what the objectivewas here — control. It’s hyper-extreme control, complete with threats andeverything else,” said another senior official, who has also worked at the PCO.

“It wasn’t like a benign dictatorship the way it was under Chretien — theywere a pain in the ass too, but nothing like this.”

The Conservatives’ unwaveringly tight grip is part of a global trend inwestern democracies, said David Zussman, a senior PCO member during JeanChretien’s time as prime minister.

“There’s no question we’ve witnessed quite a change in the centralization ofdecision-making,” said Zussman, who now teaches public management at theUniversity of Ottawa.

“So all of the functions that you normally associate with cabinet work andcommunications and policy-making are different now than they were underprevious governments.”

In virtually all cases, the strategic benefit to the government’s overallagenda is carefully weighed in the requests.

The strategic objective behind a March 2008 announcement of $2.3 million toestablish a new research chair at Laval University in Quebec City bythen-industry minister Jim Prentice was to “showcase” the government’scommitment to science and technology.

“Our government is committed to attract, support and retain the best andbrightest minds to lead in cutting edge initiatives,” was the desired mediasoundbite.

MEPs were used to get out in front of negative stories, from a devastatingfire at a Quebec military armoury to dirty drinking water on native reserves.

At times the level of detail borders on the comical.

An MEP for a June 2008 announcement in Saint John, N.B., on a newair-quality health index envisioned, “The Minister/MP flanked by a group ofvolunteer runners wearing colour-coded numbered shirts which demonstrate thedifferent numerical levels” of the index.

Sometimes the MEPs work just as planned. When then-environment minister JohnBaird announced $677,000 in funding at a Bird Studies Canada announcement in June2008, the organization’s BirdLife International newsletter featured thehoped-for photo of the smiling minister with the organization’s president andlocal Tory MP Diane Finley.

But sometimes the intended message never registers at all.

A finely honed plan for a July 2008 announcement in Orillia, Ont., by twocabinet ministers on cleaning up Lake Simcoe resulted in barely a ripple ofpublicity.

The MEP is also a reactive tool to track and analyze the wide array ofrequests for information that pour into government departments on a dailybasis. When a journalist seeks an interview with a department official — oreven a background briefing that would not identify the official by name — therequest is almost always cleared by the PCO.

All major news organizations, including the three major televisionbroadcasters, The Canadian Press, newspapers such as the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, and the Canwest chain have had requests forinformation dissected by individual MEPs.

The names of individual journalists were generally stripped from thedocuments, but not always. A request to CIDA by Maclean’s magazinewriter Michael Petrou generated three pages of talking points to help him craftan “informative” article on Haiti.

Wow, there isn’t much to even say about this, if this is thekind of PM you want in Canada, than I can see why things are heading the waythey are. No one is fighting hard enough to get rid of this PM, he’s adictator... We don’t need this guy in our country, send him to Russia, orbetter yet China since he loves them so much. Get rid of this guy, and make himdrink the water he’s poisoning. Let’s see how he feels about the water supplyif he’s drinking it too. I wonder why he doesn’t show people he really believesthat the water is fine by drinking it in front of CBC...

Here are some words from my father, Dennis Burden, on the day he wentto receive sentencing in provincial court (Happy Valley-Goose Bay) on January8, 2014:

"Right from the start I knew there was something really really wrongwith this Muskrat Falls (Labrador) project.

I have spent hundreds of hours searching the better way. I have watched themspend a fortune on an unsanctioned project. I have heard the NL Premier lieabout how green and needed this hydro dam is. Our experts, our experts, ourexperts! So I check to find SNC Lavalin (banned from any World Bank project for10 years and also from bidding on Canadian international development agencycontracts among other things) then there is Manitoba Hydro (MHI) who was 85 %over on their last project.

I have seen the "power is in our hands" advertising (remember thatold guy and his grandkid looking out over our perfect green future) I have readabout methyl mercury and its dangers, Agent White, and that some dams are worsethan plants the same size running on fossil fuels ( methane gas ).

So I begin to wonder what’s wrong for the people to stand by and watch thisterrible assault on our habitat and democracy. They don`t know or they believeour government? I ask myself "How to spread the message? What to do? Howto kill the monster?" Discouraging much? Yup! So I figured if we, the oneswho have studied this project, could just inform the folks about what’s goingon here they would stand and say no.

Every little protest, picture, and post would tweek someone’s interest. Themedia has been silenced. The Public Utilities Board (PUB) perhaps (oh no theywere kicked outta the equation months ago). Environmental laws (nope, they gotthe boots too). Then there is Newfoundland & Labrador’s (NL) Bills 60 &61 and changes to Bill 29 that drops NL below some third world countries in itslaws of disclosure. I felt, and still do, that I owe it to my kids’ future totry and stop the Muskrat Fall project. In hind sight maybe attacking thecorrupt pole was not such a great idea (I remember my girlfriend walking in theroom with tears saying I wish you never had to do this) but that was it, I hadno choice. I had to.

Did it have the desired effects? No. Am I sorry? Only that it didn`t work.Would I do it again? If I thought it would stop the project - Yes.

I see all you proudly waving the Labrador flag and singing songs about"We, her strong sons and daughters". Next time you wave it askyourself "How much would you sell it for?"

You see it has to come down to the common folks. Not our Native groups. Notthe Combined Councils of Labrador. Not any of our elected officials has theballs to speak out! Maybe the ole attitude of "You’re only Labradorian anddeserve no better" has stuck on us.

"It takes years to learn how to look at the destruction of beautifulthings; to learn how to leave the place of oppression; and how to make your ownregeneration out of nothing." G Stern

So I stood there with every intention of committing this offence in hopes ofexposing a far greater crime. Hopefully someday soon the other criminalsinvolved in this slaughter will get justice delivered to them also!" - DB

January 8, 2014 - Dennis Woodrow Burden was convicted and foundguilty of "mischief over $5000" in NL Provincial Court and has beenfined $8000, ordered on probation for 12 months, and not allowed to visit anyactive Nalcor Muskrat Falls active work sites for 12 months.

Alberta doctor tells U.S.:Canada is ‘lying’ about tar sands’ health effects

American Senators told that oil sands are linked to a huge spike in cancer, despite Canadian government claims

March 6, 2014 at 8:35pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

They say a picture says a thousand words, what about words that paint a picture? Can you say a thousand words to describe something that will paint the picture of what you want something to look like? I believe that the government has been the best at doing just that. They feed us words that sounds pretty, and paint a pleasant picture in our minds which convince us certain things they do is for the greater good of us. I guess that was true until they decided to leave out the best part... The TRUTH, but the government won’t let a little truth get in the way of their perfect picture. They will throw words like “Cheaper” “Economic growth” “Will get the economy out of debt” I don’t know if the US will buy such words, but as far as I know they’re planning on starting a pipeline which is why protesters are chained to the white house fences. Back to my article, Canada has been feeding words that paint the perfect picture to companies overseas. Obviously they’re painting a very big picture for so much to be invested in destroying the environments in which they’re being built in and profiting from. Can I ask one question then? If these pipelines are to help lower the cost of hydro, and or other power structures in our country, and help the economy grow, and get us out of debt... How does that work if there’s no one to sell it to in our country because they killed everyone? I don’t know if they thought about it that way or not, but here is what this article says about it.

A northern Alberta doctor warned U.S. Senators on what he says have been the devastating health impacts of the tar sands on families – effects, he says, that have been willfully “ignored” by the Canadian and Alberta governments.

“I appeal to you to keep up the pressure – this is an ongoing tragedy. A total disgrace,” said Dr. John O’Connor, Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

He sighted statistics for rare cancers – of the bile duct for example – that have shot up 400 times for what is considered normal for a tiny community, such as Fort Chipewyan – which is downstream, to the north of the oil sands.

“These are published, peer-reviewed studies that indicate that the government of Alberta and Canada have been lying, misrepresenting the impact of industry on the environment,” said O’Connor.

The Alberta government has long denied cancer links with the province's multi-billion-dollar crown energy jewel.  It states on its website that there is"insufficient evidence to link the incidence of cancer in Fort Chipewyan to oil sands operations" and rates of cancer are "within the expected range."

O'Connor finds that hard to believe.

“All of the scientific studies that have accumulated, it’s almost like they don’t exist,” he said.

A new study for example, shows Leukaemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma have spiked in the last 10 years --especially among men who live downwind of pollution plumes from the oil, gas and tar sands facilities east of Edmonton.

The family physician was invited to brief two U.S. Senators who are against the proposed TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline, that if approved, would carry bitumen from Alberta to Texas.

California Senator Barbara Boxer said the Alberta doctor is an important “witness” as to why the Keystone pipeline should be turned down, based on health concerns alone.

O'Connor said he came "with absolutely no political agenda" and simply as an “advocate for patients” because he feels his repeated calls for Canadian authorities to take precautionary health actions have been ignored.

“In my experience, when pressure is exerted outside Canada, the government reacts,” he said.

O’Connor attends to mostly aboriginal patients between Fort McKay and Fort McMurray.  He first noticed a rise in cancer in the area several years ago, but said governments have been slow to do anything about it.

Oil sands health issues gaining prominence

Oil sands health issues took spotlight last fall when newly elected Fort Chipewyan councillor John Chadi took ill just 48 hours after being sworn in.

He was diagnosed with the same rare, incurable bile duct cancer, found in people living nearby. But unlike other Aboriginal cancer patients in Fort Chipewyan, Chadi is Lebanese.

“How can this keep happening in a community this size?” his common-law wife told the Edmonton Journal. According to a government census, Fort Chipewyan only had a population of 847 in 2011.

Similarly, dozens of families in the Peace River region, in the province's Northwest, have complained of health effects from noxious oil sands fumes, and six families have abandoned their homes. Oil field fumes so painful, Alberta families forced to move. When one mother, Karla Labrecque, approached her ear-throat-and-nose specialist in Grande Prairie about her health woes from the oil fumes, he told her to "just move."

“He said… you are just a small, little bolt in this huge robot, and you don't matter.  Move," the mother told a recent Alberta energy regulator hearing under oath.

O'Connor said physicians are fearful of recriminations and repercussions, "if they dared to speak ‘health issues and tar sands’ in the same sentence.”

So out of all of this, what is the US going to decide? I guess we will find out at the end of this month, or next month, whenever he decides to disclose his plans. I hope he doesn’t make the same mistakes that Canada has, our communities are suffering because of these pipelines, and no one deserves what is happening up here. I hope they realize the dangers and tell Harper to shove the pipeline up his Royal Canadian #$%.

Omnibus March Against Harper

March 1, 2014 at 7:15pm, Written by: Evee Kameya

Today a bunch of people filled with love, and anger, gathered at 1pm in Vancouver at Hornby st. They peacefully assembled, and began talking about how grateful they were for the people whocame, had come to join them in love and anger, to deliver a clear powerful message to the Harper Regime. They sang songs, and melted the hearts around them, including mine. After singing, and stating what they were standing for, fighting for, they began the march.

As we marched, I noticed the police presence was very strong. They were trying to direct us down roads that had noone to hear our voices. We went the direction of people, humans, like me, and you. We searched for like minded souls, we searched for freedom fighters. We shut down all the busiest streets, we occupied big business areas in down town. They spreaded their messages, their voices, their love, their mutual anger, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with this powerful, passionate lifestyle. To stand up for what you believe in, wanting your voice heard. It is only human towant to have a voice, and to want it to be heard.

We sang songs like “We don’t want your dirty oil” “We won’t stop until we win” “United we stand divided we fall” “Stephen Harper’s gotta go” There was a lot of free speech, everyone was so passionate. I took photo’s of some of the signs people had with them, and were holding up. I connected with one of the women, she was crying because of how powerful the message was, I ended up crying as well, knowing how she felt, why we are doing this. Our sons were the reason we want Canada to be a home, and not a prison for them. The whole march was moving on a deep, human, spiritual, intellectual, and profound level.

For the first time in my life standing in the middle of the crowd screaming my message, their message, ourmessage, I knew that, that’s where I belong. Out in the community making a difference. I know that my independent journalism will make a huge impact, especially on days like today.

They touched on all topics that matter to all of us. The pipelines, our Earth, tar sands, land and treatyrights, liberty and freedom, the only thing they didn’t touch on, is the most important. Choice! Everyone of us at one point made a choice to stand and fight, it takes a certain point in life where we have had enough. I wanted to know what would it take to have every Canadian choose to stand with us, march with us.

A wise man once said “People should not fear their government, their government should fear their people!” It’strue, we are the ones who give them power! Well no more, we will be the GAPP between them and power!

Everyone has a voice, I heard their voices, as they heard mine, because mine was theirs, and theirs were ours. We need more voices so that there is too many to silence. So here’s my question readers: What will it take for you to make the choice to fight for your freedom, your childrens freedom, their childrens freedom?

I hope you enjoyed my article, I put my heart into it as with everything I do. Please like my page, follow me on twitter, and subscribe to my youtube channel.
